Presented by Bill Quehrn from the Arizona Commemorative Air Force

Bill will tell the story of the amazing role popular music played in the life of the “Greatest Generation” at home and in uniform in WWII. Like no other time in history, the music of the 1940s, the “Golden Age of the Big Bands”, delved into the patriotic heights and personal depths of those living through those frightful years. The program features sound clips of 20 songs selected from over 150 titles by the top writers, arrangers, and performers of that era. The songs speak of courage, sacrifice, commitment, valor, and eventual victory performed by the most popular artists of the period. Voices of General Eisenhower, Prime Minister Churchill, and others add to the richness of the music.
